Phillip Law Music 2024

This award is specific to students of Jazz and Improvisation or Interactive Composition. All applicants must be a current student at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music.

The Dr Phillip Law Music Scholarship is provided to a student of improvisation enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate studies in the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music.

The scholarship is to be awarded to the student who exhibits the greatest excellence in innovative performance and commitment to their studies and activities offered by the Faculty. 

Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend a Zoom interview of 10-15 minutes (no performance aspect, just discussion relating to your intended project). 

Shortlisted applicants will be asked to prepare an answer for the interview for the question: What is innovative, new and exploratory, for them in their performance?  Interviews will be held in the first week of December.

All applicants, shortlisted or otherwise, should expect to receive an update or outcome no sooner than October (and possibly November).
